These authors used
mice prone to mammary tumours, and found accelerated development of tumours
when the animals were exposed to 2450 MHz for 2 hours per day, 6 days
per week, for 11 months. They also treated mice with benzopyrene, which
induces skin cancer, and exposed them to similar radiation for several
months, and again found earlier development of cancer in the radiated
animals compared to controls.
The SARs were as high
as 6-8 w/kg, and could be associated with significant thermal effects.
