The authors used HeLa and CHO cells in these experiments. The cells were exposed or sham-exposed to radiation for 2 hours. Both types of cells were exposed to 27 MHz RF radiation, and the HeLa cells were also exposed in another experiment to continuous wave 2450 MHz radiation. The SAR was 25 W/kg for HeLa cells and 100 W/kg for CHO cells. Positive control experiments were also done using exposure to 40°C and to 45 µM cadmium sulfate.

There was no detectable effect on stress protein induction from the radiation exposure when compared with sham exposed cells or with heat-stressed or Cd++ positive control cells.
