This group previously published results of a study of the effects of radiofrequency radiation (RFR) exposure on the cognitive function of adults (Koivisto, 2000). They reported that the RFR exposure facilitated cognitive function. However, a study by the same group (Haarala, 2003), which attempted to replicate their earlier findings, failed to show any effect from the RFR exposure. The second study had several improvements in methodology, most noticeably having two different centres participate, and using a double-blind procedure.

In the present study the subjects were children aged 10-14 years. There were 16 boys and 16 girls. They did a variety of tasks, either with sham exposure or with exposure to a GSM phone at 902 MHz frequency. The SAR was 0.99 W/kg. The order of exposure was counterbalanced.

There were no significant differences between the phone on and phone off conditions in reaction times and accuracy over all tests or in any single test.
