On January 17, 2008, the U.S. NATIONAL RESEARCH COUNCIL OF THE NATIONAL ACADEMIES released its report on “Identification of Research Needs Relating to Potential biological or Adverse Health Effects of Wireless Communication”. The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) proposed the National Academy of Sciences to hold a workshop with international experts to identify research needs of exposure to radiofrequency (RF) energy.

The report identifies 10 important research needs from 5 areas:

  • dosimetry and exposure,
  • epidemiology,
  • human laboratory studies,
  • mechanisms,
  • animal and cell biology

A PDF prepublication copy of the report is available on the National Academies Press online.
